Planning a birthday party worth remembering

A spread of desserts

TL;DR

Suit the person and the crowd first; the food follows.
Relaxed party suits grazing; a milestone suits a seated meal.
We handle setup and clear-down, so you are a guest too.
Child portions and every dietary need are covered.

Birthday party catering should suit the person and the crowd first, and the food follows from there. A relaxed fortieth at home and a milestone dinner in a hired room ask for very different things. Here is how we help hosts across Buckinghamshire plan a birthday that runs smoothly, from a Blame Frank point of view.

Start with the feeling you want

Before the menu, decide how the night should feel. A loose, sociable party suits grazing and sharing plates that let people drift and talk, while a seated meal gives the evening more shape and ceremony. Your numbers and space usually point to one or the other.

We plan the food around that decision, not a fixed package. You can see the range on our private event catering page.

Choose a format that fits the space

At home, a grazing table or a relaxed buffet keeps things easy and needs little equipment from you, since we bring our own. In a hired venue you have more room for a served dinner or a bar. Either way, we handle setup and clear-down so you are a guest at your own party.

For birthdays specifically, our birthday catering page has more detail.

Drinks and the later hours

A birthday often runs long, so plan for the second half of the night. We can run a bar with wine, beer, prosecco, cocktails and softs, and arrange the licence where one is needed. You are also welcome to supply your own alcohol, as we do not charge corkage.

Late-night food keeps energy up, so a warm bite later in the evening is often the detail people remember.

Dietary needs and younger guests

Mixed-age parties mean mixed appetites. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and halal diets, and we can provide child portions for family celebrations. Tell us who is coming and we plan for the whole room.

Getting this settled early takes the worry out of the guest list. It is one less thing to chase in the final week.
