Grazing tables and food stations, done well

TL;DR

Grazing looks effortless and takes real planning.
It suits events where you want people to mingle.
Abundance is designed in, and planned to your numbers.
Stations add theatre and spread the crowd out.

Grazing tables and food stations look effortless and take real planning to get right. Done well they feel generous and sociable, and they keep guests moving and talking through the relaxed parts of an event. Here is how we approach grazing and stations at Blame Frank, and where they work best.

When grazing is the right call

Grazing suits events where you want people to mingle rather than sit. Drinks receptions, relaxed parties and the informal stretches of a wedding are natural fits, since guests can help themselves at their own pace. For a formal seated moment, a served meal still tends to work better.

We plan the format around your event on our menus page.

Abundance with a plan behind it

A good grazing table looks abundant because it is designed to, not because more was piled on. We build height, colour and variety so it reads as generous while still being planned to your numbers, which keeps waste down. The look and the practicality are decided together.

That planning is also what keeps the table looking good from the first guest to the last.

Stations that keep things moving

Food stations add a bit of theatre and spread the crowd out. A hot station, a sharing board and a dessert table give guests reasons to move around, which lifts the energy of a room. We bring our own equipment and staff the stations, so they stay stocked and tidy throughout.

They work indoors or out, since we can set up wherever there is power and space.

Dietary needs on a shared table

Shared formats need careful labelling so everyone can eat with confidence. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and halal diets, and we mark dishes clearly on the table. Guests should be able to see what suits them at a glance.

Grazing suits weddings and parties alike, and we tailor it to your crowd.

Frequently asked questions

Grazing works for a wide range of numbers, from an intimate gathering to a large reception, because guests serve themselves over time. For bigger events we plan multiple stations or a longer table to keep queues down and the display looking full. Tell us your numbers and space and we will design the format to fit the room.

Both work. A generous grazing table can serve as a full, relaxed meal, or a lighter one can open an event before a served course. It depends on the mood you want and the time of day. We plan the quantity and range so it does the job you need, whether that is the main event or the welcome.

They need some, but less than people expect. We bring our own equipment and plan the layout to your venue, so stations fit the space available. Hot stations need power, and we confirm what is required in advance. For outdoor events we can set up with a gazebo kitchen where there is access to power and water.
